FLO’s all about promoting Fair, Local and Organic food, both on campus and around the world. Sometimes, though, it’s easier said than done. We’ve all gotta eat—hopefully well. But everyone’s got a different way of doing it, what with hectic schedules, different housing situations, and just life in general. We hope that this blog will give you some ideas and tricks for incorporating good, FLO-worthy foods into your diet, wherever and however you live. Maybe we can help each other make it a little bit easier to keep real food in our lives.
Our members will be posting their ideas here regularly, but if non-FLObies would like to contribute, just shoot an email to email@example.com and we’ll be thrilled to share your ideas. We’re interested in everything—recipes, restaurants, shopping experiences or even just stories about eating!
Our first foodie advice comes from FLO member Sara Skelton, a former dorm-room cooking warrior. Now, does anyone have some recipe ideas for dorm-style cooking?
“The biggest obstacle to cooking in a dorm is moving food/supplies to the kitchen. The key to cooking in a dorm is a milk crate. Stack in all supplies and ingredients and make one trip. Always bring your laptop so you can listen to tunes. Wafting smells will attract new friends and render all those armed with ramen noodles jealous."
Here is a list of everything you will need to becomes the coolest kid on your floor:
1. Medium pot
2. Medium skillet
3. Baking sheet
6. Chef's knife
7. Cutting board
8. Mixing bowl
9. Tupperware (Leftovers are your best friend!)
10. Eating Utensils (spoons, forks, knifes, plates, bowls)
